Georgia has some amazing hikes including stunning summit views, wildflowers, and waterfalls. Allied to this, Georgia has fantastic hiking weather to experience day-long hikes with a companion.

Here are eight of the most popular hiking trails to experience in Georgia (GA):

Springer Mountain

The Springer Mountain Trail at 4.6 miles in length and 680-ft elevation gain is situated close to Ellijay, GA. This trail has a difficulty rating of moderate (no rocks to climb over) and is available to the public year-round.

The Spring Mountain trail is predominately used for hiking and is a dog-friendly path.

Gooch Gap to Woody Gap (Appalachian Trail)

The Gooch Gap to Woody Gap trail is approx 7.1 miles in length and situated near Suches, GA. The trail elevation gain is 732-ft and has year-round access and a difficulty rating of moderate.

It has a great forest setting and this point to point hike is relatively quiet and mostly limited to use for hikers. This is a dog-friendly trail.

Neels Gap to Hogpen Gap (Appalachian Trail)

The Neels Gap to Hogpen Gap trail is 6.4 miles in length and makes up a portion of the Appalachian Trail. With an elevation gain of 817-ft and gives awesome views with wildflowers on display.

This point to point trail is situated near Dahlonega, GA and has a well-marked path with a moderate rating.

Watson Gap to Ocoee River (Benton MacKaye Trail)

The Watson Gap to Ocoee River section of the Benton MacKaye Trail is approx 20 miles in length of this fine section of the point to point trail.

Hightower Gap to Woody Gap (Appalachian Trail)

Because of the though rocky sections, this trail is preferred by the hikers with a lot of experience.

Unicoi Gap to Tray Gap (Appalachian Trail)

Bushy Head Gap to Watson Gap (Benton MacKaye Trail)

The Bushy Head Gap to Watson Gap section of the Benton MacKaye Trail is in the region of 17.4 miles in length and has a 1900-ft elevation gain. This section of the trail is situated in Cherry Log, GA and includes wild and rugged terrain.

It is rated with a moderate level of difficulty and open to the public year-round for hiking.

Little Skeenah Creek to Shallowford Bridge (Benton MacKaye Trail)

The Little Skeenah Creek to Shallowford Bridge section of the Benton MacKaye Trail extends for about 18.7 miles and includes a difficult start with a climb up Wallalah Mountain.
